PGSNYS October 2011 Meeting

Meeting will be help on Thursday October 13th at Villa Maria College in the Cafeteria.

Meeting Agenda:

1) General Meeting.

2) Nomination of PGSNYS officers for 2012
The election of officers will occur at the November 2011 meeting.

You may run for the position of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer or any of the five trustee/board positions.

In order to be eligible to run for a society office, you must be a member in good standing. A member in good standing is defined in the bylaws as:

“Section 2: Member in good standing is considered as: payment of annual dues, regular attendance at meeting (at least 6 per year), if member is out of town and dues are current he is considered in good standing.”

The following individuals have expressed an interest in running for PGSNYS offices and are considered nominated as long as they meet the eligibility requirements prior to the election:

3) Polish Genealogical Project:

Szymon Tomsia who is completing his studies on a Master degree level at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland in the photography studio of  Dr. Mariusz  Dabrowski. He’s an exchange student at Canisius for one semester and he’s interested in creating a series of photographs/portraits of Polish-Americans and their communities. His idea is to create a connection through his art between Polonia and their places of origin in Poland.

Results of this research/art project:
-  photography exhibition at Canisius College and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw
-  exhibition catalog published by the Polish Exchange Program at Canisius College (print and digital)

He will be asking the PGSNYS members for their help in his Project. For project details, see you at the meeting.
