A Selected Directory of Early Polish Priests

Compiled in 1997 by Michael Drabik

PREFACE

This project, devoted to some of Polonia's early priests, began as an offshoot of a study into the history of St. Casimir Parish, Buffalo, NY. In 1990, the parish observed its centennial but had disappointingly little information about its early administrators. So I began to research their histories. As I worked on that project, other interesting and colorful personalities were encountered; their names were added to the study.

It is my hope that as you read these biographical sketches, you will see how important the priest was to the early immigrant and his/her parish. The high caliber of priests who served this diocese should also become apparent. Since most of the clergy described in this work are unknown to the average person of today, I invite you to acquaint yourself with some of these unique men.
