Antoni Baron was born April 8, 1873 in the rural community of Czyszki in Gorny, Slask (Prussian-held territory at that time). Before studying in Czestochowa, he attended local schools in the Sosnowiec area. Showing promise, he was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to study in Italy. There he prepared for the priesthood and, on December 19, 1896, was ordained in Rome by Bishop Michael Cardella.

Returning to his native land in 1897, Baron served parishes in Sosnowiec, Dabrowa and Warsaw respectively. In 1900, he returned to Italy and continued his studies in cannon law.

1904 was the year he arrived in the United States where he first worked in the Diocese of Altoona, PA. In 1906, Baron became assistant to his fellow-Silesian, Rev. Jan Pitass, at St. Stanislaus Parish in Buffalo, NY. His stay there lasted only until December of that same year; he then left to visit Europe with Rev. Msgr. Pauszko. Upon his return to the United States, Baron worked in a Polish parish in Utica, NY before transferring to the Diocese of Pittsburgh, PA (where he served until his death in 1937). In Pennsylvania, he worked at the parishes of St. Thomas in Footedale, Holy Cross in Iselin and St. Mary's in New Kensington.

Ks. Baron was among those Catholic priests who agreed with Ks. Waclaw Kruszka and his campaign for a Polish-American prelate - "rownouprawanienie", According to Rev. Bolek, Baron personally promoted the cause for a Polish bishop by visiting the Vatican and pleading the case to Cardinal Gotti. He later wrote an appeal to Pope Leo XIII in this regard.
