Fabian Pawlar, born January 14, 1847 in Bachowice, Slask (Prussian-occupied Poland), was ordained to the priesthood in Rome, Italy by Cardinal Patrizi (May 1874)
Upon his arrival to the United States later that year, Pawlar was assigned to the recently founded parish of St. Anthony in Calumet, IL. In 1875, his ministry took him to the state of Michigan. The late 1880s found him in the Buffalo Diocese, serving as assistant at St. Stanislaus and St. Adalbert Parishes and as pastor of St. Hyacinth Parish in Dunkirk respectively.
In 1890 Pawlar left the Western New York area and returned to Michigan. There he served parishes in Menominee, Republic and Ironwood and was named the dean of the Diocese of Marquette. It was while serving as pastor in Ironwood, an area with a large Polish community, the Ks. Pawlar died on October 8, 1925
